Garlic Harvest

One of the more popular and easiest crops to grow is Garlic. While they are hundreds of cultivars it takes a few trials to find those that are best in your garden.

This year’s garden had four different hardneck Garlic in a single bed. About 20 of each were planted depending on the number of cloves in October 2016. They put on good growth and went dormant come Winter. Covered with straw they restarted their growth this past Spring. Once the leaves started to yellow and dry all were dug.

The types grown and shown above were (left to right): Duganski, Music, Purple Glazer, and Siberian. As you can see Music and Siberian form large 4-6 clove heads and the others more cloves but smaller.
